Gloria Jean s Songs For "Bit of Heaven"

A musical score of five varied numbers arranged to give Gloria Jean her finest vocal opportunity in three films has been approved by producer Joe Pasternak for the 12-year-old singer’s forthcoming starring picture, “A Little Bit of Heaven.” Foremost among the numbers and easily the most impressive Miss Jean has undertaken is “Eili, Eili,” with special arrangement by Charles Previn, Universal studio musical director, and special English lyrics by Ralph Freed. Other numbers include the title song. “A Little Bit of Heaven,” with music by J. Keirn Brennan and lyrics by Ernest R. Ball; ‘‘The Nightingale and the Rose,” by Rimsky Korsakoff; ‘‘What did we Learn at School?” by Vivian Ellis; and ‘‘After Every Rainstorm,” an original by Frank Skinner, of the studio music department, with lyrics by Sam Ler ner. All music for the Pasternak production is under the direction of Previn. The latter has acted as Gloria’s voice coach, in addition to his directorial duties, since she made her debut in “The Under-Pup” and subsequently co-starred with Bing Crosby in “If I Had My Way.”
