AT SERVICE OF ALLIES POSITION OF THE CONGO (t'nlteil As*n.— Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 23, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 22 Mr R. A. Butler, in reply to a question in the House of Commons said: “Since June 13 the Belgian Minister for Colonies, who is in London. has been exercising the full powers with which he had been invested as Administrator-General of the Belgian Colonies. “The local administration in the Congo was under Governor-General HI. Ryckmanl. who declared on June 25 that the resources of t ie Congo were at the entire service of the Allies. “Certain economic problems arising from the Congo as a result of the enemy oceunatn i of Belgium v re under dh-cussion with the Bntiih Government.”
