PHILATELIC INTERESTS

INFORMAL MEETING HELD WAIKATO SOCIETY There was an excellent attendance at the informal meeting of the Waikato Philatelic Society last night. Mr F. Tonar presided. Visitors were present from the Morrinsville Club and were heartily welcomed. A new member was proposed for election. Two competitions were entered into with zest. The first, by Mr M. C. Gudex, was won by Mr D. Edsall, who was ineligible owing to previous wins. Six members tied for second place, Master Tompkins finally securing the prize. The second competition, arranged by the secretary, was won by Mr Agnew. Several members brought their collections and many stamps changed hands. Supper was provided by the women. The next monthly meeting will be held on September 4, when special Government displays will be shown and a short lecture given on the Id Black Great Britain, called “The Mother of all Postage Stamps.”
