LIVE SHELL SHOOT

THIRD ECHELON TROOPS FIRING NEAR WHATAWHATA A After only one day back in camp from extended leave, an advance party from the 6th Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, which is in training at Papakura mobilisation camp, left again last night for Whatawhata to establish a base for live shooting practice, which was carried out today by the entire regiment. It was the first live shoot undertaken by the unit since the third echelon went into training some months ago. The shoot will continue tomorrow. The advance party reached Hamilton last night and had supper in town before proceeding to Whatawhata. The shoot will be carried out in the Whatawhata hills, which proved ideal for live shell practice when used for the first time by members of the artillery units of the second echelon.
