TE KUITI—TE AWAMUTU GOOD TrME IN LONG RACE (Special to Times) TE KUITI, Wednesday In Saturday’s road cycle race to Te Awamutu and back tbe cycling: was or a very high standard. The distance was about 62 miles. All the riders except two, who had punctures, made the turning point in Te Awamutu with good times. The three limit men. led by R. Lee, were still ;n front, but G. Irvine, riding on his own. had made up much of his handicap, and was closely followed by L. Lee and C. Page. The return journey saw all but Waters, Irvine and Lee drop out. Waters maintained a g-o<>d lead until 10 miles from home, but the pace was too ra*t and the scratch men caught him three miles from the finish. G. Irvine with a good sprint Just beat 1.. I.ee with D. Waters close up filling third position. Results: G. Irvine (scr.), 1; L. Lee c?niln.), 2: D. Waters (Mm.) 3. Fastest time, G. Irvine, 3hrs. smin. 7sec.
RED CROSS PASSES Tn the Te Kuiti Red Cross examinations held last week, mo ppr rent, of passes was obtained. The examiner, Dr. Isaae, considered that the work was of a high standard.
