NEW POST OFFICE
NEARING COMPLETION FINAL STAGES REACHED Now that the cloak of scaffolding has been cleared away, the people of the Waikato have an opportunity of gaining a clear impression of the size and imposing nature of Hamilton’s new chief post office, which is in the final stages of construction. Commenced three years ago this month, the new building opposite Garden Place is of three floors, modern in design and centrally situated. The work is now so far advanced that the building is expected to be ready for occupation in about two months. Apart from providing more commodious offices for the transaction of business, the new building will serve an invaluable purpose in bringing together many branches of the Post and Telegraph Department in Hamilton and accommodating them under the one roof. Thus, people having business with various post and telegraph interests and with the Post Office Savings Bank will have their work considerably facilitated. The furnishings for the building, which are all of New Zealand manufacture, are ready and will be installed as soon as the workmen have completed their operations.
