WEDDINGS
BANFIELD—CONNELL
WHITE LACE GOWN The wedding was solemnised at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Te Kuiti, on the morning of July 13, when Nora Joyce, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert Connell, of Te Kuiti, was married to Victor John, only son of Mr and Mrs I. Banfield, of Cambridge. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a gown of white lace designed with a pleated bodice, and fully puffed sleeves. The fully flared skirt formed a graceful train and her veil of embroidered tulle, which was worn over the face on entering the church, was held in place with a halo of miniature arum lilies and orange blossom. She carried a bououet of arum lilies, carnations and freezias. She was attended by her sister, Miss Zena Connell, of Otorohanga, who wore a dusky pink georgette frock fashioned with a frilled bodice and a fully-flared skirt. A pleated bolero and a large spray of cyclamens were worn. She wore a bandeau of pleated georgette and carried a bouquet of cyclamens, pink carnations and maidenhair fern. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Carlton Tearooms, where the mother of the bride received the guests wearing a brown ensemble, a brown felt hat and brown accessories. She carried a posy of orange Iceland poppies. The mother of the bridegroom was in a wine frock worn with gold accessories. Her bouquet was of wine tulips. The bridegroom’s grandmother was in a grey costume and navy blue accessories. When Mr and Mrs V. J. Banfield left for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a London tan frock, and a matching coat and hat. They will make their home at Cambridge.
