FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS RAIDS BY BRITAIN’*" GERMANY AND HOLLAND (Official Wireless) (Received July 17, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, July 16 Extensive air activity against the enemy during Monday night and today is described in an Air Ministry communique, which states:— Royal Air Force bombers yesterday attacked enemy aerodromes at Lisieux and Evreux, in Normandy. During the night they again attacked the aerodromes of Norderney and Dekooy, in Holland, where a hangar, petrol dumps and aircraft on the ground were set on fire. Other bomber forces last night repeated their attacks on the oil refinery at Hanover and at Padenborn. Hamm and Osnabruck were again visited, and fires and explosions in a goods yards were observed by the bomber crews. A blast furnace at Hambora, in the Ruhr, and a munitions factory at Dortmund were also bombed. Coastal Command aircraft attacked Wellensord, on the coast of Holland, causing a large fire among warehouses. All our aircraft returned safely. To-day, in spite of bad weather, our bombers attacked enemy occupied aerodromes in Northern France and concentration barges near Armentieres. One of our aircraft is missing. Copenhagen Raided It is reported that Copenhagen was again raided last night. Explosions were heard and fires seen from Sweden. They wished to visit the airman’s grave in France, which is now impossible, but the Royal Air Force authorities are doing their utmost to return FlyingOfficcr Kain’s belongings valuables to his mother, also to obtain a photograph of the grave.
