Chat and Flashlight took turn- in the lead early, but passing the mile post Clarion Call went through to the front and he carried on there, fencing brilliantly, from Chat, until about six furlongs from home when the pair had a break of fully 50 yards on the Held. Here at the board rence, however, Clarion Cali hit the obstacle hard ami deslodged A. Jenkins, leav ing Chat with a commanding lead from Balybrit, Flashlight and Padishah. Ball.vbrit challenged in the closing stages but Chat held on to get the decision by 10 lengths from Ballybrit, with the tiring Padishah, who did not relish the going, another 15 lengths away. Lactose came home well for fourth, a couple or lengths away, with Flashlight next, followed bv En Tour. The time, 7.335, wa* the slowest since that of King’s Guard In 1929.
