FARM WAGES SUBSIDY
INEXPERIENCED LABOUR NEW GOVERNMENT SCHEME Details of the scheme introduced by the Government to encourage men to go on the farms, whereby subsidies to wages would be paid, were received by the Waikato County Council to-day. The subsidy on wages will apply to all inexperienced men of 20 years of age and over, who have been engaged through the Labour Department or the Social Security Department. The subsidy will be for single or married men without experience at the rate of 30s a week, with an additional 12s 6d a week for house allowance payable to married men in cases where married accommodation is not available, and where married men are separated from their families. These subsidies will apply for the first six months. For the second six months the wages subsidy for inexperienced men will be reduced to 15s a week. No wages subsidy will be available to experienced men, although they will receive 12s 6d a week house allowance if married, on conditions similar to those applying to inexperienced niarriedmen^^
