NAZI BOASTING
RECOILED ON THEMSELVES SINKING OF ARANDORA STAR GERMANS SENT TO DEATH (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received July 9. 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 8 It is revealed that the U-boat commander who sank the Arandora Star, sending to their death 143 Germans and 470 Italians, was Prien, who sank the Royal Oak. Prien, broadcasting, boasted: “We got our best results on the last cruise from torpedoing freighters. We were returning when we met a vessel of 15,000 tons. We assisted with a display of fireworks and old England was poorer by 15,000 tons.” The vessel was the Arandora Star.
