RAIDS OVER GERMANY CONTRADICTORY REPORTS THREAT TO DUTCH SUBJECTS (omcial Wireless) (Received July 8. 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, July 7 The contradictory statements in German wireless messages suggest that some difficulty is being found in dealing with the results of the con- i tinuous raids over .Germany and I German-occupied territory by the ! Roval Air Force. This morning a German broad- • cast account stated that out of a i very large number of bombs dropped over Holland in 190 British raids carried out between June 1 and July 5 90 per cent fell on open ground or non-military objectives. Such a highly satisfactory state of affairs from the German viewpoint does not fit in with the broadcast statement on Saturday by the German Commander-in-Chief in Holland, who said the results achieved by Royal Air Force bombers “could only have been achieved on the basis of information emanating from Holland,” and threatened Dutch subjects who were discovered to have supplied such information with the death penalty. It is not conceivable that such threats would be made if the in- i formers were supposed to be directing the British merely to open country, and it is only* fair to assume that Royal Air Force pilots are being a little too successful in reaching their targets. No Aircraft Missing Tonight’s Admiralty communique states: In the Admiralty communique issued on Saturday announcing a second action by the Fleet Air Arm aircraft against the French battle cruiser Dunkerque at Oran on July 6 it is stated that two of our aircraft failed to return. Further reports now establish that none of our aircraft is missing as a result of the engagement, and there are no casualties to the personnel.
