Area For Barley

The executive of the Hawke’s Bay Primary Production Management Committee is to approach the Government to determine the practicability of growing barley on the Ahuriri development area raised in the 1931 earthquake. If there is a sufficient area of suitable land for cropping in barley available on the block, the Government will be asked to set aside an area of up to 2000 acres there for this purpose in the coming season.
