Moore, Australia’s richest sprint race, the Doomben Newmarket Handicap, was won j r esterdn.v by the four-year-old gelding Expressman, to whom the New Zealand colt Beaullvre was conceding a year and two stone, only to be beaten by a head In a stirring ilnish in neavy going. This ts the second occasion on which G. Price, the trainer of Beaulivre, has had a horse beaten by a head in the Doomben Newmarket Handicap. Tbe first occasion was in 1934, with Whitt Ingham.
