RADIO APPEAL

£30,792 ACTUALLY RECEIVED (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Monday The total promised in the two evenings of the radio appeal on behalf of the patriotic fund was £31,578 and the amount actually in hand was £30,792, according to a statement from the honorary organising secretary, Mr*L. W. Swann, at a meeting of the executive of the Sick and Wounded Appeal on Saturday. After allowance had been made for one bogus set of promises of £4OO, the difference between the amounts promised and received was £385. Sums were still coming to hand. Many amounts received since the radio appeal and credited to general funds really represented radio promises collected by enthusiastic treasurers and credited to the funds of their queen, instead of the radio appeal, the secretary stated.
