TOTAL OF 60 AEROPLANES FIGHTING IN MIDDLE EAST (Official wireless) (Received July 5, 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, July 4 The destruction yesterday of three more Italian aircraft during a raid on Macacca, in Eritrea, was stated in Cairo to bring the total number of Italian aeroplanes brought down in the Middle East area to 60—the result of three weeks’ fighting. The total includes fighters and bombers shot down v and machines destroyed on the ground. A further 25 aeroplanes have probably been destroyed.
