MUCH SHIPPING SUNK SUCCESS OF U-BOATS ENGLISH TOWNS RAIDED (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyrlftit) (Received July 4, 11.30 a.m.) BERLIN, July 8 A communique states: A German submarine sank 24,000 tons of enemy merchant shipping. Another U-boat torpedoed the Arandora Star. German planes on July 2 sank a 12,000-ton vessel and a 6000-ton ship, and also seriously damaged an 8000ton vessel. Our planes raided British armament centres along the east coast, particularly Newcastle. A raid last night on English south coast ports resulted in several fires and explosions. We shot down two British planes over Holland. British planes again bombed Holland and northern and western Germany last night, doing little damage.
