MISSIONARY MEETING

INTERCESSION FOR PEACE The monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union held recently in the church hall, Matangi, was well attended, and was presided over by Mrs C. L. French. Devotions in which the members of of the board of management participated, were led by the Rev. C. L. French. These included a period of intercession for peace. Missionary letters were read by Misses Lucy and Lily Ringer, and a paper on the education of girls in India by Mrs French. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy in her bereavement to Mrs T. Thompson, life-member of the branch. At the conclusion of the meeting a sales table did good business, and there was also a ready sale for Oriental work, sold on behalf of mission funds. Supper and a period of social fellowship with, the church managers was enjoyed. Among those present were:—Mesdames C. L. French, A. Campbell, Mary Church, Benge, A. Middlemiss, R. Norville, Sattrup (Tauwhare), A. Davison (Newstead), Robinson, J. Shaw, D. Kerr. Misses Florrie Ringer, Lucy Ringer, Lily Ringer.
