WEYGAND’S ORDER

OBEYED IN MOROCCO DEMOBILISATION OF TROOPS NEW COMMANDER OF FORCES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright! LONDON, July 2 The French Commander-in-Chief in Morocco, General Nogues, has obeyed General Weygand’s orders for demobilisation, says the Tangier correspondent of the Times. Senior officers regard General de Gaulle, the French leader in London as too young. A message from Athens states that General Weygand passed through there today on his way to Syria. General de Gaulle announced yesterday that he had appointed ViceAdmiral Muselier to be commander of the "free” French naval and air forces. Several ships and several air groups are already under the command of Vice-Admiral Muselier, who was a collaborator with Clemenceau in 1917-18 and later commanded the Second Cruiser Squadron in the Mediterranean. Vice-Admiral Muselier, it is now disclosed, went to Paris shortly before the enemy reached the city and destroyed secret plans and a number of armament works. He then made his way to Marseilles in a series of motor-cars, and upon reaching the French port gathered up a number of officers and men and sailed a French warship to Gibraltar. An aeroplane was placed at his disposal to take him to England.
