REFUGEE CLOTHING

RED CROSS ACTIVITIES PARCELS SENT OVERSEAS At a meeting of the Hamilton subcentre of the Red Cross Society, at which the president. Mr F. W. Course, presided, the clothing committee reported that a further 14 packing cases of refugee clothing had been collected, repaired, sorted and sent to Wellington for despatch overseas. In addition, it was stated, 24 cases of refugee clothing were sent away last month. The sub-centre decided to co-operate with the Lady Galway Guild in its proposed clothes drive and to include the large supply on hand in the guild’s collection. The meeting also resolved to make the lecture hall available for the inaugural meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary Volunteer Company next Monday. The class committtee reported that classes in motor mechanics and hygiene and sanitation were to open this week. Certificates gained will be awarded by Dr. H. L. Gould, superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, at a social and dance on July 13. It was also decided to accept the invitation extended by the Dean, the Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, for the candidates to attend a service in the Cathedral the next day. A request was received from the Waikato Hospital for blood donors, and it was decided to ask members to volunteer for this service. The secretary reported that many valuable donations of goods and services had been received by the society, and votes of thanks were extended to thoM who assisted.
