WINTER SHEEP SALE Dalsrotv and Company, Ltd., report having- held their usual winter sheep sale at Te Kuiti on Friday, when the advertised •number of sheep was offered to a larg-e attendance of local and outside buyers. Throng-bout the sale, bidding- was keen on all classes of sheep and the prices were some shillings above expectations. No •sheep was passed, all lots being- sold under the hammer. Outside buyers were present in large numbers from the Waikato district, Taranaki, and as rar north as Papakura and Otahuhu. The demand for ewe hoggets was particularly keen, and these showed an advance or 3s to 4s a head on recent sales. Wethers were also keenly competed for at prices above late rates, while the demand Tor breeding ewes was unsatisfied at the end of the sale. A line of 405 good quality 2-tooth ewes on account of Bryant House trustees was sold at ?,ss. while 4 and 5-tooth ewes on account of Mr R. Poddy made up to 35s 9d. Mr W. I. Hunt’s usual entry or good sound-mouth ewes made 2Gs 9d Tor the line of 370 r while ewe hoggets on account of Mr W. Stringer made top price at 29s -9d. Following is the range or prices realised:—Light fat wethers 275. good -2-tooth wethers 23s to 24s id, smaller sorts 2ls to 22s fid, good wether hoggets 17s to 18s fid. medium wether hoggets Its 9d to I«VS 3d. best ewe hoggets 27s lOd to 20s fid. medium sorts 25s to 26s Sd, best 2dooth ewes 33s to 355, medium 31s fid to 32s fid. 4 and 6-tootb ewes 34s 3d to 35s 9d. medium 3is to 335. good mixedage ewes 3is to 335, 4-year ewes 30s to 325. i and 5-year ewes 27s fid -to 30s fid, good sound-moulih ewes 2is to 28s 3d. lighter sorts -jus to 235. Also yarded were some good quality 4-year Polled Angus bullocks, which sold at £9 2s for the line.
