FAMOUS WAR ACE VERY QUIET FUNERAL BENEATH SIMPLE CROSS (United Tress Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 14, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, June 13 The British United Press’ correspondent with the Royal Air Force in France says:
“The war’s most famous air ace, ‘Cobber’ Kain, the hero of a hundred air battles, lies beneath a simple wooden cross beside the airfield from which he began many brilliant exploits.
“Both the cross and the grave are only temporary. The body of the young hero, whose death the whole Royal Air Force mourns, will be moved to a war cemetery after the war.
“Flying-Officer Kain’s funeral was very simple. Only a few comrades were present. The others were aloft battling with the enemy.”

GOOD WORK ACCOMPLISHED HINDERED BY BAD WEATHER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 14, 3.15 p.m.) PARIS, June 13 An air communique says: As a result of unfavourable weather the activity of the French Air Force has been much reduced in the last 24 hours, but carried out numerous reconnaissances, securing valuable information regarding enemy movements.
Our fighters have been busily engaged in protective flights. Squadrons of our bombers bombed and machine-gunned troops and attacked bridges and railways.
ATTITUDE OF SPAIN
FOR ITALY AND GERMANY OPPOSITION TO ALLIES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 14, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, June 13 The Madrid correspondent of the Times reports that increasing press sympathy for Italy and Germany coincides with the Government’s policy of non-belligerency.
There is not a word of comment favourable to the Allies.
The Arriba, the organ of the Falange, declares that Spain must stand by the two countries which helped General Franco to win the civil war.
CUT IN SALARIES
ACTION BY POLITICIANS MONEY FOR RED CROSS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 14, 3.15 p.m.) HOBART, June 14 The Legislative Council has agreed to a ten per cent, reduction in members’ salaries. The amount saved is to be divided between the Red Cross and the Comforts Fund.
