CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES SOME RESPONSIBLE OFFICERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday There is in the employment of the Wellington City Council a number of men with Italian names, and some hold responsible positions. No pre- ’ cipitate action has been taken, said the Mayor, Mr T. C. A. Hislop. He : said the council, in any case, was not : the body to take action, but it had j supplied through its executive ! officers the names and positions of all such men to the police. Some had been in the service of ! the council for many years, or were j born here of parents with Italian j names. The Mayor indicated that i there was no intention of action . against such men, but gave a general , warning that employees, of whatever j nationality, taking up a disloyal attitude would find themselves out. I
