BLACK SHIRTS AND NATIVES i STRIKING TOWARDS JIBUTI 4Ucite<i Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 12, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, June 11 The Rome correspondent of the British United Press says it is authoritatively stated that Black Shirt infantry and native troops penetrated British and French Somaliland. They are reported to be striking towards Jibuti. Dispatches from Addis Ababa claim that Italian planes bombed military objectives around Aden. Raids on Malta A War Office communique states: At 4.50 a.m. a raid by about ten hostile aircraft was carried out on Malta. Further raids following during the morning. The casualties were slight and little damage was done. One enemy plane was destroyed. Seven air raid warnings were sounded at Malta. Four waves of bombers carried out the first raid, dropping salvo after salvo, but only three bombs fell on the land.
The civil population showed no sign of panic. Anti-aircraft guns kept up a terrific barrage during each raid, preventing dive-bombing. It is believed that two and possibly four planes were brought down. The damage was very slight. The casualties included women and children.
The curfew is imposed at Malta between 10.30 p.m. and 5 a.m. The Spanish press openly sympathises with the Axis Powers.
