NEW MINISTER
dr. d. g. McMillan ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED POST FOR HON. R. SEMPLE NATIONAL SERVICE MINISTER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday It is expected that following a meeting of the Executive Council to-
day the appointment of Dr. D. G, McMillan, M.P. for Dunedin West, to the Ministry will be announced.
He is expected to become Minister of Marine, and also Minister in Charge of Inspection of Machinery, Prisons, and Scientific and Industrial Research Departments.
A new Cabinet post, Minister of National Service, is to be filled by the Hon. R. Semple.
That of. Minister of Manpower, now held by the Hon. D. Wilson, Leader of the Legislative Council, will disappear, but Mr Wilson will act as assistant to the Hon. R. Semple in the new portfolio of National Service. Mr Wilson will retain the portfolio of Immigration and the administration of the Government Life Insurance and State Fire Insurance Departments. Mr Semple’s new portfolio will place him in full control of any steps taken for the regimentation of the manpower of the Dominion for war purposes, either in the fighting or industrial fields.
