VISIT TO MUSEUM
HAMILTON EAST SCHOOL NEW EDUCATIONAL SCHEME For the first time yesterday a Waikato school participated in a scheme recently launched by the Auckland War Memorial Museum Institute, when 78 pupils of forms 1 and 2 of the Hamilton East School travelled ‘o Auckland to visit the museum. The journey was made under a scheme in which the Railway Department is co-operating by granting substantial concessions to children attending from outside districts. The Hamilton East pupils, in company with teachers and several adults, heard talks on the exhibits given by the education officer, Dr. R. A. Scobie. In a visit which lasted two hours the scholars also saw educational films. The innovation is likely to result in pupils coming from long distances, and already headmasters of Waikato schools are arranging for periodical visits. The Hamilton East School will probably make one visit a term.
