LABOUR UNREST

STRIKE IN AUSTRALIA GOVERNMENT DETERMINED VOLUNTEERS PROBABLE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received April 27, 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 27 The Morning Herald says it is understood that the leaders of the striking coalminers agreed at a conference to call an aggregate meeting early next week to consider the advice given by the Federal Labour Leader, Mr Curtin, that they should return to work immediately and seek a variation of the award in the Commonwealth Arbitration Court. It was stated that Mr Curtin warped the strikers that the Federal Government was determined to introduce volunteers into the collieries and ensure their protection. It was also stated during the debate that if the strike was not settled the Labour Party was likely to be dedefeated at the next Federal elections.
