KING COUNTRY UNION LITTLE TRAVELLING URGED (Special to Times) TE KUITI, Thursday The annual meeting of the King Country Rugby Union was held in the Kaitieke Dairy Company’s boardroom on Friday .Mr G. Cameron presided over a large attendance of delegates. After welcoming the delegates the president said that all must realise there was a difficult time ahead as far as football was concerned. The war and benzine restrictions would cause clubs and sub-unions trouble, but he felt sure that the King Country union would do all in its power to assist in making the coming season a successful one. Mr Cameron made reference to the loss the Dominion hacl sustained through the death of the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, and after he had also referred to the death of Mr T. A. Blyth, one of the foundation members of the King Country Rugby Union and a life member, those present stood in silence. This season, said Mr Cameron, it would not be necessary to do so much travelling, for although they owed Waikato and Thames Valley games, Auckland, Wanganui, Taranaki and Manawatu were due to visit the King Country. As a lead to the incoming committee he suggested that owing to the war and benzine restriction the union should travel as little as possible, and considered that unions owing King Country matches should be invited this season
