ROTARY HEADQUARTERS
NOT OBSERVING IDEALS CRITICISM OF MAGAZINE “It seems to me that Rotary headquarters is not living up to the ideals for which it stands,” said Mr S. N. Ziman at the weekly meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club yesterday, when stating that the official publication of the movement, The Rotarian, appeared to be ignoring the fact that a war was being waged. “If the Rotary movement standi for anything at all, it is surely international justice and fair play,” he said. The Rotarian is published in the United States of America as the official journal of the International Rotary Movement. Mr Ziman added that the war was being waged for the protection of the ideals for which the movement stood. It was rather unusual, he thought, that the headquarters of the movement appeared to think that the war did not concern it. In the journal there was practically no mention of the conflict at all. On the motion of Mr C. L. MacDiarmid, it was decided to refer the question to the club directors, so that consideration could be given to some appropriate action being taken regarding the policy of the official magazine.
