amenity at taupitu The interest that has heen evident throughout the erection of the swiinininfr hath at the Taupiri Primary Sc-liool again shown on Saturday, when a number of parents, old pupils and friends attended the omeial opening. The construction of the bath was made possible hv the generous help, In both labour and ilhance, given the project by local resign ’giving bis report, Mr T. ReeKie. the committee secretary, stated that the bath, which is isrt. l«*ng. 20ft wide, and oft deep at the deeoer end. had cost together with the pumping plant about £340, a sum which was about half the estimated cost. Great thanks were due to Air George Grant, who laid out and supervised the work, and to the band or voluntary workers who put in many days on the construction. In opening the bath Mr C. A. Barrel!, M.P., for Hamilton, who apologised for the unavoidable absence of the lion. \Y. Lee M ant in. congratulated the people of the district on the enterprise shown in erecting a bath which he understood was the most up-to-date in the Dominion, for the size of the school. After the opening, swimming and noveltv events were held and resulted as follows:—Boys’ .do yds: J. Thorne 1, U. Lilt 2: old boys’ 45yds: T. Lilt 1. P. Gibb 2: balloon race.
