MEDICAL BOARD RECRUITS PASSED AS FIT (Sppcial to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Saturday At the medical hoard held in the Drill Hall. Morrinsville, in ror-mlts wore passed as fit for active service. Spice, C. R. Coles. L. \Y. Osborne, D. \V. Donald, N. G. Andrews, NY. Johnson. MAGISTRATE'S COURT ILLICIT SALE OF LIQUOR At the Magistrate's Court, Morrinsville. berore Mr NY. 11. Freeman, S.iM., John Leonard Ayers, or llinuera, was charged with supplying vwo bottle* or beer to Harry Tuhakaraina at Morrinsville on March 11. Tuhakaraina was also charged with a ding Ayers In the offence or supplying liquor to a native Tor consumption oir licensed premises. Constable Aud'loy said he saw Ayers come out or the hotel under the Influence or liquor and was approached by Tuhakaraina. Ayers then went back into the hotel and returned with two bottles or beer which he gave to the .Maori. NYhen the constable approached them Tuhakaraina attempted to hand the bottles back to Ayers, but in doing so dropped one ol' them. Roth accused were fined £2 10s and costs. Defective Brakes William Greens!ade, or Te Aroha. was charged with driving a car not equipped with independent brakes. Emily Janet Wylie, of Morrinsville, in evidence stated she was driving a ear towards Morrinsville on December 26, 1939. and was three parts across the Piako Bridge when the car driven by Greenslade came on to the bridge ami collided with her car. Constable. MoMfllon said that he inspected Greenslades car alter the accident and neither the root nor the hand brake was operating. Counsel ror defendant said that a film of water had got between the brake band* and the drums. Greenslade intended to stop until the other car had passed, hut to his dismay the brake* failed. constable McMillan said there was pracJ. J. L. Stapler, motor' mechanic, stated that the failure of the brakes to act would he consistent wil’i water getting between the brake hands and drum*. The case was adjourned to allow evidence to he hr.night as t-» the state of the weather on December 20.
