PAINTER’S PLAUSIBLENESS 24 CHARGES ADMITTED (By Telegraph. — Press Association) AUCKLAND, Thursday When things got too hot for him in Wellington, where he returned to crime after serving a prison sentence, William Freney Keenan, aged 38, a painter, came to Auckland, where, after many victims had fallen for his plausible tales he was arrested. In the Police Court today he pleaded guilty to 24 charges of obtaining goods and money, totalling £49. from persons in Wellington and Auckland, by falsely representing that promissory notes he gave were valid. The magistrate, Mr J. Morling, sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment on each of two charges, the terms to be concurrent. This will be followed by two years’ reformative detention.
