SPOTTED FEVER

SUCCESS OF NEW DRUG VERY ENCOURAGING RESULTS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received March 8, 1 p.m.) LONDON, March 7 The encouraging results obtained by the use of a new drug in the treatment of spotted fever are recorded in a Health Ministry memorandum to medical officers. Although the prevalence of the disease at the moment is higher than at the peak period in 1915, when the death rate was between 50 and 60 per cent, the death rate has now been brought down by help of the drug to 10 per cent. The greatest importance, however, is attached to an early diognosis to make full_ beneficial use of the drug.
