FINE LIST OF TROPHIES A feature of the Centennial meeting of the Thames Trotting Club, to be staged on the Parawai course on Saturday, April 6, is the number of valuable trophies presented by supporters of the club to accompany no less than five of the eight events on the programme. The Thames Twenty-first and Centennial Trotting Cup, which is worth £3lO this year, carries with it a handsome canteen of cutlery, presented by the Hamilton sportsman, Mr R. T. Reid, while the sprint event, the Kopu Handicap, of £225 limit 2.56, has an accompanying trophy—an electric sewing machine, valued at £25, presented by Miss M. K. Twohill, of Thames. The owner of the winning horse in the President’s Handicap, the principal event for straight-out trotters, will receive a tea and coffee service, valued at £2O, presented by Mr J. Twohill, while the other trotting event, the Parawai Handicap, carries with it a trophy comprising a crystal liquor set given by Mrs Bert Collins, of Mangere. In the Turua Bracelet Handicap the owner of the winning horse will receive a coffee service presented by Messrs McKendric Bros., of Auckland. Throughout, the programme is a most attractive one, and owners are reminded that nominations are due to close on Wednesday, March 27.
