WEDDING

3IISSENI—SILVESTER WHITE GEORGETTE GOWN The wedding took place at St. James Methodist Church, Frankton, on the afternoon of Saturday, January 27, when Bertha, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. Silvester, of Higgins Road, Frankton, was married to Leslie Alfred Charles, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. E. Missen, of Ohaupo Road, Melville. The Rev. J. W. Parker was the officiating minister and Miss Zena Peace presided at the organ. The church had been beautifully arranged with dahlias and delphiniums in shades of blue and cyclamen. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, the Rev. John Silvester, wore a charming gown of white georgette cut on Grecian lines and featuring a draped V-neckline. The cross-over continued to form a sash and tied in a soft bow at the back. The very full panelled skirt v/hich was inset with true-lovers’ knits of witchcraft lace, fell to form a long train and the very full sleeves which tapered to points over the hands were also inset with lace. Her beautifully embroidered tulle Veil fell from a pleated tulle and lace halo sprigged with orange blossom to form a second train and she carried a shower bouquet of roses and dahlias with maidenhair fern. The Attendants In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Hilda Silvester, sister of the bride, and Miss Beth Maclean, and little Lois Silvester, sister of the bride, was flowergirl. The bridesmaids wore similar frocks of lagoon blue taffeta cut on princess lines, the skirts being inset with Vandyke bands of cyclamen lace. The bodices were fashioned with heartshaped necklines and the cyclamen lace coats were designed with large puff sleeves. Pleated halos of cyclamen net finished with sprays of delphiniums were worn on the hair and they carried bouquets of delphiniums and carnations. The little flower girl was wearing a Victorian frock of blue marquisette, the bodice being designed with full puff sleeves and a heart-shaped neckline. Tiny buttons extended from the neckline to the waistline at the back and the very full skirt was finished with tiny frills at the hem. She carried a Victorian posy of delphiniums and carnations. Mr T. Mason was the best man and Mr D. Silvester was the groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs C. Martin and B. Silvester.

After the ceremony a reception was held in St. James Hall, which had been artistically arranged with bowls of cyclamen dahlias and blue delphiniums. Mrs Silvester received the guests wearing a navy and white floral frock with a navy coat and matching straw hat. Her shoulder spray was composed of red carnations and roses. Mrs Russell Cooper, eldest sister of the bridegroom, wore a smart frock of blue and fuchsia with a fuchsia straw hat. She wure a shoulder spray of carnations and fuchsias.

When Mr and Mrs L. A. C. Missen left by car for the wedding trip the bride travelled wearing a frock of petrel blue sheer, a box coat, and a hat to match, with black accessories.
