TATUANUI NOTES

FAREWELL TO RESIDENTS A farewell was tendered recently to Mr and Mrs H. Wilton, who have been in Tatuanui for 25 years and are leaving the district shortly to reside at Kohimarama. A large and representative gathering assembled in the local hall to pay tribute to the guests-of-honour. During the evening items were given by the following:—Mrs J. Wilton, songs; Mesdames A. Richter and J. Lugton, duets; Misses J. Clements and A. Frampton, tap-dancing; Miss P. Luxton, elocutionary items; Mrs W. Haycock, violin solos. Miss Z. Rushton, was the accompanist. Cards and games combined to make a most happy and enjoyable evening.

Mr W. Darrall, speaking on behalf of the residents, mentioned the many activities in which both Mr and Mrs Wilton had been interested, and presented them with a handsome chiming clock, and wished them every happiness in their retirement. Mr and Mrs Wilton suitably replied. Happy Afternoon A number of friends met at the residence of Mrs H. Wilton, Tatuanui, recently, to farewell Mrs M. Stockbridge, who is leaving to reside at Kohimarama. During the afternoon Mrs L. Russell presented her with a bouquet of flowers, and the gift of a posy made of handkerchiefs was made by Mrs G. Kelk. On behalf of the gathering Mrs A. Northcott wished Mrs Stockbridge a happy and prosperous future in her new home.
