INCREASE IN STERLING RISE IN ADVANCES itty TM-irr«|.h.—Pros Association) j WELLINGTON. Thursday The Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, February 26, was gazetted to-night. The statement is balanced at £43.891,849. or £1,592,033 more than at the close of the previous week. The sterling exchange reserve has j increased by £1,329,831 in value, this rise bringing the total to more than £10.000,000. Notes and other demand liabilities are more than £1.700.000 higher in the aggregate principally because of a rise of £1.333,000 in the deposits of the trading banks. The ratio is 32.812 per cent, compared with 30.79 per cent the previous week. Advances to the Primary Products Marketing Department are £66,194 higher. Those for other purposes have increased by £200,000.
