WESTFIELD MARKET AUCKLAND,' 1 Wednesday Although the quality was not as good as last week, ox beef sold steadily at late rates at the Westfield stock sale to-day. Late rates were also repeated for cows and heifers. Messrs Dalgety and Company report that they yarded 110 head, consisting of nine steers and 101 cows and heifers, against 107 head last week. Quotations:—
Extra choice ox sold to 37s a 100 lb; choice and prime, 34s to 365; secondary and plain, 30s to 335; choice young cow and heifer beef, 32s to 355; prime, 29s to 31s; ordinary, 25s to 28s; medium prime steers, £ll to £l2 a head; small and unfinished, £9 to £lO 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 to £9 15s 6d; heavy prime, £8 to £8 15s; lighter prime, £7 to £7 15s; fat, £6 to £6 15s; other killable cows, £4 to £5 10s.
