NEW REGULATIONS RATIONING OF PETROL NEW SET OBTAINABLE (Special to Times.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday New regulations to prevent trafficking in petrol coupons will shortly be gazetted, according to information received by the district oil fuel controller at New Plymouth. The regulations will provide for the issue of new coupons to replace sets w’hich have been lost and will tighten control over coupons accompanying traded-in cars, i Petrol users who have temporarily ! mislaid their coupons and as a re- [ suit have been placed in a serious : predicament have become fair game ,to certain people, who have sold them coupons at prices ranging from Is to Is 6d. The matter has been | carefully considered by the authori- | ties and steps will be taken in the ‘ near future to prevent these tactics. | New regulations are being gazetted j under which motorists whose coupons have become lost or destroyed I will be enabled to procure a new set I of coupons. These regulations will i provide owners of vehicles with an | opportunity of making a statutory | declaration, which must be testified J by a responsible person, in order to I replace their missing coupons. The j declaration must have a 3s duty i stamp attached and a charge of 5s ! will be made on the replacement of j coupons. Used Car Position ! In those cases where part of the j coupons has been lost a duplicate set i will be issued on delivery to the | authorities of the remaining coupons, i Where coupons have been temporar- ! ily misplaced, a new issue will be j forthcoming upon a declaration incorporated in the clause of the new regulations that the missing coupons when found will be returned to the authorities. It has been the practice for people trading-in second-hand cars to dealers to hand their remaining coupons to the garage concerned, the dealer holding them until the car is purchased again to hand the coupons to the new owner of the car. Under the new regulations, dealers will be required to return the coupons immediately to the proper authorities. !
