NEW ZEALAND RECOGNITION LETTER FROM MR JORDAN (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 20, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19 Mr W. Jordan, New Zealand High Commissioner, has sent a letter to Dr. Benes stating that the New Zealand Government recognised the Czech National Committee in the same way as Britain has done. SUBMARINE CONVENTION REPUDIATION BY GERMANY (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 19 The Berlin radio announces that Germany is going to repudiate the London submarine convention. This announcement has not caused any surprise, as Germany has already repudiated the convention on countless occasions by her actions.
The London submarine convention provides among other things that provision shall be made for the safety of merchant ship crews prior to the torpedoing of their vessels, and for the defensive arming of merchant ships.
