WEDDING
MATTHEWS—ANNETT BRIDE IN IVORY SATIN Masses of beautiful pink and blue hydrangea, arranged by friends of the bride, formed a lovely floral background for the wedding of Frances Mollie, only daughter of Dr. and Mrs H. E. Annett, of “ Grasslands,” Matangi, to Gordon Dunstan, only son of Mr and Mrs H. D. Matthews, of Hillcrest. The ceremony, which took place in the St. Peter’s Cathedral on the afternoon of Friday, February 16, was performed by the Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog. Dean of Hamilton. The wedding music was played by Mr E. H. Apthorp. The bride, who was given away by her father, was wearing a graceful gown of ivory slipper satin cut on slim-fitting lines. The long tapering sleeves and the sweeping oval train were designed with handsome insets of lace and the neckline was trimmed with an unusual sea-egg and diamante ornament. A matching ornament also fastened the girdle which encircled the waist. Her lQvely silk net embroidered veil fell in billowy folds to form a second train was caught to the head by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of carnations, gladioli, roses and maidenhair fern. The Bridesmaid The bride was attended by Miss Helen Halliday as bridesmaid, and dusky-pink slipper satin was chosen for her frock, which was fashioned on Princess lines. Flounces of net adorned the skirt and were looped and caught at the hemline with bunches of forget-me-nots and roses. A spray of flowers was worn in the hair to match her bouquet of duskypink carnations with touches of del-phinium-blue. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Tua Matthews as best man. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Centreway Rooms, which had been artistically decorated with bowls of pin? gladioli and dahlias. The guests were received by Dr. and Mrs Annett assisted by Mr and Mrs Matthews. Mrs Annett was wearing a becoming full-length gown of black Venetian lace with a coat of black sheer and a black hat trimmed with white and yellow flowers. She carried a posy of dusky-pink carnations and roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a graceful floral georgette frock with a navy hat. Her posy was composed of scarlet begonias. When Mr and Mrs G. D. Matthews left by car for their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a merino-blue woollen frock and a toning hat. The bridegroom will leave next Thursday to join the ground staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Levin.
