WAIPA TRACKS

HORSES FOR ROTORUA MISS NGAIRE SHAPES WELL HALF-MILE IN 50 2-5* (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday The course proper, next to the rail*, was in comparatively good order at Te Awamutu this morning when a number of candidates with engagements ahead were sent along. Hutana (C. G. Goulsbro) traversed seven furlongs in 1.34. He is to start on the latter day of the Rotorua gathering and should strip in forward condition. Town Survey (Pratt) and Royal Mistress, the Australian-bred two-year-old, ran the last three furlongs of their work in 38s, both executing their work attractively. Erination (Gilmer) hit out over seven furlongs in 1.35. He is engaged in the high weight event at Rotorua on Saturday and is not without prospects of springing a surprise Loombination (Gilmer) jumped off at the mile and a-quarter, running the last half-mile of his work in 545. Rose Acre sprinted down the straight and on the way she has been shaping in her recent work she should not be long in opening her account. Miss Ngaire (GouUbco) finished several lengths clear of Otoro (Horne) over four furlongs in 50 2-ss. Miss Ngaire shaped well. Tutor (Watson) was schooled over four hurdles and gave a very poor display. However, as he is a proved jumper little notice may be taken of this morning’s effort Others to do useful work included: Suleiman. Beau Leon, Te Takina. Joan Peel, Ora King, Lucidus, Te Monowai, Beseige, Leieke, Dorset and Bamboo.

T. Murtagh left this morning for Rotorua with Corato and Misora. Both horses are bearing a welltrained appearance and should race prominently at the meeting. R. E. Home’s riding engagements at Arawa Park include Scotland, Sir Robin and Aero Queen.
