AUSTRALIAN GIRL
SEEKING SUCCESS ABROAD IN “GONE TO THE DOGS” Miss Lois Green, who plays the leading feminine role in the film now being shown in Hamilton, “Gone To The Dogs,” starring George Wallace, left for America and England immediately that production was completed. Thrilled with the prospect of this
long-planned trip which has been her dream since she began her musical comedy career in the ballet, Lois, in an interview, admitted that the English stage and a part in a West End production were her big ambition, but that she would “look in” on Hollywood, just out of curiosity. “I loved my film work in ‘Gone To The Dogs,” she said, “and I frankly admit that I hope to appear in English films. But the stage is my first love, as all my associations with it have been so happy, and now I am leaving Australia I want to say how grateful I am for the encouragement I have received in my career. “There’s one person I must mention . . . Australia’s very much loved Gladys Moncrief. My first grown-up part was when I danced in ‘Maid of the Mountains’. In later revivals, I actually had to sing in the show with her, and often felt like passing out with sheer embarrassment. But her kindness, so appreciated by every artist who is associated with her, helped me tremendously and she advised me about wnging difficulties she herself had had to overcome. “I then began to study and soon found after a few months that singing was very much easier for me.”
