Christmas Shooting
A Christmas spirit prevailed at the Hamilton Gun Club’s grounds at Melville recently when the club held 1 " its annual Christmas shoot. A large muster of shooters was present and, with prizes appropriate to the season of the year, competition was keen in all the events. The meeting was the first occasion on which the club president, Mr T. Glenn, has competed since his recent health trip to Canada and the United States of America. The results of the day’s shooting were as follows: —First Christmas match; W. Lentfer 1, J. Dobson 2, E. Duncan 3, G. Tarr 4. Second match for Christmas hamper: E. Duncan won outright. Third match: W. Gribble 1, C. Seddon 2, R. Crosby 3, W. Brinkworth 4. Fourth match: G. McMiken 1, J. Pollard 2, H. Meyer 3, T. McCready 4. Fifth match: B. Dold 1, W. Percival 2, T. Henry 3. Sixth match: J. Pollard 1, J. Dobson 2, D. Livingstone 3, W. Lentfer 4. First consolation: R. Trimble 1, J. McCready 2, T. Glenn 3, B. Livingstone 4. Second consolation: McFarland 1, E. Bogun 2, F. Wood 3, G. Wallace 4, A. A. McLean 5. B. Dold also won two box shoots.
The Christmas shoot was the last big meeting to occupy the attention of Waikato marksmen before the Centennial championships which will be held at Auckland from January 11 to 13, inclusive, and at Wellington from January 16 to 19, inclusive. Extensive programmes have been arranged for both meetings and it is expected that shooters from all parts of New Zealand and from overseas will be present.
