NEWS OF THE CINEMA
Shirley’s Hair—Colour Changed Shirley Temple has forsaken her blondeness and gone brownette. It seems the photographers feel the darker shade of hair will be more flattering to her round little face—her cheeks are getting so plump! New Laurel and Hardy Comedy Despite his rotund bulk, Oliver Hardy is one of the film colony’s leading sports addicts. Aside from being an enviable golfer, Hardy is an ardent fisherman. Hardy is also an excellent dancer, in spite of his girth. In fact, women who have been guided around a dance floor by the comic all attest to the fact that he is extremely graceful and light on his feet. But during the filming of “A Chump at Oxford” in which he costars with Stan Laurel, Hardy did not have time for fishing interludes. So in between scenes he used up some of his extra energy pitching horse shoes. In “A Chump at Oxford” Laurel and Hardy are presented as an erstwhile pair of students who land at Oxford for their first introduction to higher learning.
