OBITUARY

MR HERBERT PROCTOR BURNS The death has occurred of Mr Herbert Proctor Burns, of Manga - pehi, aged 59 years. Mr Burns was born in Oldham, Lancashire and came to New Zealand 30 years ago. He joined the firm of Ellis and Burnard, Limited, and was employed at Hamilton, Otorohanga and Ongarue. During the last 25 years he had been the firm’s accountant at Mangapehi. He was at one time chairman of the Mangapehi School committee and secretary of the Mangapehi Cricket Club. Mr Burns was interested in amateur operatics and produced a number of plays at Otorohanga and Mangapehi. He was also a member of the Church of England choir at Ongarue and Otorohanga, and a Justice of the Peace. He is survived by his widow, three sons and two daughters.
