RINKS SHIELD GAME BOWLING IN HAMILTON HAMILTON EAST’S WIN The Hamilton Bowling Club, holder of the Waikato Rinks Shield, lost, the shield to Hamilton East after a very closely-contested game on the former club’s greens on Saturday, the challenger winning by 19 points to 18. There was little between the two teams and Hamilton was two up at one stage near the end of the game. The Frankt.on club on its own greens withstovid a challenge from the Claudelands ••:J.:b for the Waikato Pairs Shield, winning fairly easily by 35 points to 15. Club competitions and ordinary draws were played on all greens and despite counter attractions there were good attendances. The Hamilton club inaugurated its club fours competition, two rounds being completed, and the Whitiora club made further progress with its competitions. RESULTS AT WHITIORA RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP The Whitiora greens were in fine order on Saturday when club champion links and an ordinary draw were played. During the afternoon the president, Mr D. C. Street, made reference to the death of the son of Mr J. Alker, a popular member of the club, and asked members to stand in silence.
