YOUTH’S RECORD

KINDNESS WASTED SENTENCE FOR BURGLARY (By Teleg-raph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Monday In the Supreme Court to-day Allan Farquhar Young, aged 19, was sentenced to twelve months’ reformative detention, to be cumulative on a sentence he is at present serving, by Mr Justice Fair on a charge of breaking, entering and theft from Hutchinson’s jewellery shop, Queen’s Arcade. His Honour remarked that the prisoner had been given every chance and assistance which had not been appreciated. It was impossible to admit him to probation. In view of his record of serious crime it seemed that kindness would be wasted upon him.
