MR GEORGE HERBERT MENDS BAY OF PLENTY AFFAIRS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) TAURANGA, Friday The death has occurred of Mr George Herbert Mends, one of the most widely known residents in the Bay of Plenty, after an illness of several months. He was bom in Awahuri, Manawatu, 65 years ago. j At his death Mr Mends was chairman of Tauranga County Council, a ! position he had filled for a number !of years. He was deputy-chairman lof the Tauranga Electric Power Board and of the Bledisloe Park Board. He is survived by his wife, I a son, Mr George Hadyn Mends, and I a daughter, Mrs D. S. B. Heather.
