SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED An enjoyable evening was spent by many of the men from the military camp on leave on Saturday evening in the parish hall, Ngaruawahia, when the Church Army associates entertained the men. Music was supplied by Mrs J. T. Holt and Miss Alma Armstrong, and an extra was supplied by Gunner Lewis. Items were given by Gunner Dalton. Among those present were:—Mesdames C. Quintal, J. Findlater, H. Starr, R. Duxfield, A. Paterson, W. Cavanagh, A. Allwill, G. Wilmot, J. T. Holt, E. Clout. Misses M. Findlater, H. Starr, A. Paterson, D. Bromwich, L Flay, D. Bronen, J. Ryan, S. Washer, V. Bailies, J. Graham. OPENING DAY ROWING CLUB FUNCTION Brilliant sunshine attended the opening of the season for the Ngaruawahia Rowing Club held on Sunday afternoon. An invitation, extended to any rowers at present in the Hopuhopu camp to take part in any of the races, resulted in about 40 men being present. In declaring the season open, the president, Mr H. D. Sampson, wished the club every success, and called upon Mrs H. Snowden to unfurl the flag. Afternoon tea was served and at the conclusion, of the races trophies were presented to the winning crew, stroked by Mr N. Mcßumey and Mr W Wilson. Among those present were:—Mesdames H. Snowden, M.
